One of my favorite blogs is Web Worker Daily. Sometime back, they had a post called, How to Manage Kids in the Home Office. Which, those of us with children at home can appreciate.
While the draw of working at home certainly is strong. It does not come without its issues as we have discussed before. To come up with its list, Web Worker Daily took advantage of “the collective experience of several slightly battle-scared web working parents.”
- The Question of the door, (open or closed)
- Make it their office too
- Pass on your old computer
- Adapt to their schedule
- It can be a learning experience (if they ask, use the Internet to find their answer)
- Give the Kids time to be Kids
- Be up front with customers
- Don’t be afraid to set limits
